A Warm Welcome to Marten Exterkate

On Tuesday, 1 March 2022, Dr. Marten Exterkate began setting up a new group "Lipidomics" as a junior research group leader in the CRC 1208. Lutz Schmitt, spokesperson of CRC 1208, is convinced that Dr. Exterkate's new techniques and systems will strengthen CRC 1208. University and the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences provide the funding for his position and his group.
Before coming to Heinrich Heine University, Marten was part of the Molecular Microbiology group at the University of Groningen. He completed his PhD thesis "Sustainable membrane biosynthesis for synthetic minimal cells" in 2019.
With his expertise in membrane biology (e.g. lipid biosynthesis, synthetic membrane growth, lipidomics, protein translocation), he will pursue his research interests on the mechanisms of membrane biogenesis and membrane remodelling.
More information will be available here soon.

Welcome, Marten!
