Joel Selkrig, RWTH Aachen: "Dissecting host-pathogen interactions using quantitative proteomics" - CRC 1208 Lecture, January 12th, 2023, HS 6L

Joel Selkrig, RWTH Aachen, will give a talk about "Dissecting host-pathogen interactions using quantitative proteomics".

Joel is a Tenure Track Junior Professor at the University Hospital at the RWTH in Aachen, Germany. He uses proteomics to understand the molecular basis of host-microbe interactions. Before moving the Germany, Joel studied the impact of gut bacteria on brain function in Singapore. During his PhD at Monash University, which focussed on bacterial protein secretion, he discovered a molecular machine that bacteria use to decorate their cell surfaces with adhesive proteins which enable them to cause disease.

Expertise: protein biochemistry / infection biology / Proteomics /assay development / molecular microbiology / host-microbe interactions
