Marc Kvansakul, LaTrobe University Melbourne, Australia, will give a talk about
"Structural insight into defensin-mediated membrane attack" on Thursday, May 11th, 2023,

Marc is a structural biologist who primarily uses X-ray crystallography to understand host-pathogen interactions. He is particularly interested in how hosts use small proteins called defensins during innate immunity to counter fungal and viral infections. These defensins form large helical protein assemblies to attack pathogen membranes, and Marc is visiting from Melbourne to learn how to use cryo-EM to image these assemblies.
